Follow on funding for Farmer J

Imbiba invests a further £2.5m of follow-on funding into Farmer J to support their UK expansion.

Since Imbiba made an initial investment in Farmer J in January 2019, the company, renowned for their healthy and nutritious ‘build-your-own’ grab and go field trays, has continued to thrive. Over the last year, Farmer J has reported double digit like-for-like sales growth at its existing two sites in the City as well as opening a new site in Canary Wharf in February. The Company’s fourth site, by Liverpool Street Station, will open in the coming weeks.

Founded in 2016 by Jonathan Recanati, Farmer J targets a gap in the market for restaurant quality, nutritious grab and go food, and has developed a very strong following amongst its existing customer base. The field trays, available from breakfast through to dinner, feature bold and bright Mediterranean-style dishes cooked on site and made with sustainable, seasonal ingredients.

In August, Imbiba invested a further £2.5m into the Company alongside an additional £250k from other existing shareholders to support its expansion across the UK. Farmer J has a strong pipeline of new sites coming to market, with the immediate focus continuing to be areas of Central London with a high density of workers.

Imbiba are delighted to be working with the Farmer J team at such an exciting time in the Company’s journey and are looking forward to seeing the brand continue to grow across London and the UK.
